EDITORIAL

usual for the autumn edition quite a number of pages are devoted to our own annual show as it is, after all, the Society's showcase and, for many of our members and the committee, the culmination of the year's work.
Through the spring and early summer we invariably have the worry whether there will be enough entries to live up to our reputation of staging a great show. However, when it comes to the crunch, our members always do the Society proud to ensure an excellent show and this year was no exception. A splendid effort.
The participation of the exhibitors was much appreciated, as were all the efforts by the committee members and other  willing helpers. Likewise we were thrilled with the support of the Society members, virtually all turning up with family and friends.
A few people were already discussing how they could improve on their efforts for next year and with the contest for our 'Champion Grower' decided by a mere four points, we can hardly wait!  Yes, that is the spirit, if we all strive to improve just a little each year, the future of our show will be in good hands.
Just one disappointment at our Show, the lack of entries in the beginners classes, something that will figure high on the agenda of the committee. We must endeavour to explore ways of giving more assistance and guidance to our inexperienced growers, so they too can, before long, taste the excitement of being part of the best show in town.
As far as our magazine is concerned I have once again 'shopped around' to supplement our own trumpet blowing reports with a fine variety of 'borrowed' articles from other sources (with our most grateful thanks to our kind fuchsia friends of course) to offer you once again a jolly good read.
Enjoy!
