The Seedling Charity Class for new varieties, grown naturally by the raiser only, deserves a special mention. The winner was selected by letting the public judge, voting by putting cash in the charity collection boxes by each plant. The proceeds, £8.47, was donated to D.E.B.R.A. (Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association).   The amount generated was unfortunately rather disappointing, and it has now been decided to replace the seedling class, which has attracted only a few entries, for something  appealing to more members, a bonsai class.  Locally a Bonsai Society meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Hunmanby Community Centre on Stonegate in Hunmanby. Meetings start at 7.30 and last for 1½ - 2 hours. Cost £1 per session.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members.

We trust you will enjoy taking part in the Society's activities this coming year and hopefully get enthused enough to also 'have a go' at participating in our Show next year. There was room for some more entries in the beginners classes  - our lifeline for the future!   Some of last year's beginners put excellent plants into the novices section this year and we look forward to and wish them well as they make further progress.
